Anger is just in the head. No mind boggling utterance could venture further from the actual fact. Our feelings are intrinsically physical in essence. If anger were only a state of mind, how would you explain somebody say, "It feels like I have a big fist in my abdomen when I get that provoked"?
Trust me, when you feel angry, strong feeling is instantly reflected in organs throughout your whole body, the follicles on the back of your neck, your blood flow, your metabolism, your heart rate, your respiration rate, your alertness, even your palm temperature (it warms up!) - long before you're conscious of what's taking place.

Anger is nothing but getting even. The most cited goal beneath anger has been associated to an intention to maintain dominance or interest, or to improve one's standing - not always to propogate injury. Retaliation is only secondary motive. Additional motivation involves letting off steam over mounting displeasures - again with no apparent plan to to cause injury to anybody else.
